The difference between a labourer, a craftsman and an artist is that a labourer works with their hands, a craftsman with their hands and mind, and an artist with their hands, mind and heart.
Keshav Gupta
Founder & Glass Artist
Keshav at the bench torch, mid-piece.
Hands, mind, and heart
Keshav is meticulous and research minded, layering thought and depth into every piece. He values the process almost more than the result. Most ideas start as visions and stay that way for a long time, gathered slowly, one small step at a time, until a piece is ready to exist.
He works from a strong grasp of the fundamentals, letting a wide base of knowledge drive the work, then building real skill through repeated practice until a style of his own takes shape. There is always room left for spontaneity. The moments that show up unplanned, mid-process, are where he believes the art actually happens.
Built from the roots up
Keshav believes in community first and knowledge shared openly. Teaching a class is not the same as giving the craft away for free, and sharing what he knows only makes the wider community of glass artists stronger. WAGS will never charge exorbitant amounts for a piece, even when demand outpaces what one person can make. The work carries its own value.
He would rather have someone stand three feet from the flame than watch it happen on a screen. That is the whole reason the studio exists in the woods, and the whole reason this website exists too: to get you here.
